Since moving to the village Don has worked tirelessly on many projects;establishing a thriving youth footbal club, the Strabroke Festifull, helping with the Community Centre, Nature Reserve, Allotments, Community Woodland & Orchard and much more. Don is also a Parish Councillor.

Don MSDC AwardCllr Lesley Mayes, Chairman of Mid Suffolk District Council, in presenting the Awards, said "These awards give us the opportunity to say thank you to someone in the local community who deserves recognition and praise for their efforts.

"I am extremely pleased to be able to meet the people that can make a big difference in their local community and to be celebrating with them.
"Their vital contribution is an example to us all. Without their selfless dedication, our quality of life would be much diminished."

Nick Champion, Head of PR & Public Affairs for the East of England Co-operative Society said: "We are delighted to be able to support Mid Suffolk District Council in recognising the efforts of others in their communities.
"As a local and independent co-op, serving the area for over 140 years we know how important these unsung heroes are to the vibrancy and well-being of the wider community. We are pleased that we can play a part in thanking them for their efforts."

Anyone living in the Mid Suffolk District and who works in the local community, on an unpaid, voluntary basis, was eligible for nomination. This community work could come in any shape or form, from fundraising work, to campaigning for improved local services, or providing a long-term service to the community.
