What is WEA?
The Workers' Educational Association was founded in 1903 to bring teaching and learning to the heart of local communities and is still thriving today particularly in rural outposts such as ours. It provides the opportunity for high-class, deeply passionate tutors to present an exciting and diverse range of topics within a series of talks, activities or classes. These are both informative and fun and allows for further social gathering in the village as they are held in the Community Centre.

Monet-blog-water-lilies-musee-marmottan1The course for the Autumn Term is 'Ten of the Best' which will provide an insight into the life and times of 10 different artists. Each week we shall look at a particular painting, the artist and the historical, cultural and social contexts. You do not need to have studied art to benefit from this course but simply have a general interest. There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and debate and individual response.

If you are interested in attending please go to www.eastern.wea.org.uk where you can discover more about the type of courses held in other communities and details of how to enrol. You may wish to attend the first session before making up your mind which we invite you to do.
The cost for this course is £46.00 but there are concessions – details of which are on the WEA website or we can explain those at our first meeting.
I am keen to expand this excellent service in Stradbroke and am very interested in your views on the type of courses you would be interested in for the future and what would be the best time to deliver them ie would morning or evening sessions be more appropriate for you?
