The Parish Pump is a short summary by the Clerk to the Council of the main discussion and decisions taken at the parish council meeting. It is published in the Stradbroke Monthly and available online. It is not a formal minute of the meeting. MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCIL 13th June 2016

8 members of the public attended the meeting.

Planning Applications supported:
2363/16 Prospect Farm, Laxfield Road, IP21 5JJ : - erection of 1.5 storey extension, 2 x single storey extensions to rear and insertion of window at first floor to rear elevation. Revised scheme to previously approved 3684/13
2458/16 Watermeadow Lodge, Neaves Lane IP21 5JE : variation of condition 2 of application 1921/15. Erection of bungalow building to create ancillary garage and erection of outbuilding to form garden shed.

Further information was requested for 2035/16 – offices at the rear of Chestnut House, Wilby Road IP21 5JP : notification of prior approval for a proposed change of use of a building from office use (B1) to a dwelling house (C3). No vote took place.

Results of planning applications considered by MSDC since the PC last met:
1087/16 Valley Farm IP21 5JL– granted.
1629/16 Fig Tree Cottage, New Street, IP21 5JJ – granted
1878/16 Turtle Dove Cottage, 4 Priory Close, IP21 5HD – no update available at time of meeting

Other Planning matters:
Community right to bid – the nomination by Mid Anglia Branch of CAMRA of the Queens Head Public House was accepted on 12th April 2016 by MSDC
S106 Grove Farm – The Chair reported he had spoken to MSDC and they agreed that the plan shown in the document had been inaccurately drawn but as it was a legal document could not be changed. MSDC confirmed that applications from projects in the vicinity of the area shown would be considered.

Other
Cllr McGregor reported on the following:
• Brief update of the Offer for local devolution
• Public Transport – Cllr McGregor would be happy to hear from anyone who has concerns/issues regarding public transport
• Sizewell – the County Council are ready to enter consultations but are waiting for the other parties concerned.

Cllr McGregor was asked about the decision to stop printing bus timetables. He confirmed that this was a cost saving exercise

• The Clerk reported that MDSC briefed Town and Parish Councils on the proposal for devolution across East Anglia. At present the authorities are proposing a Norfolk/Suffolk authority working in a loose federation with Cambs/Peterborough. Details are yet to be finalised but all concerned are hoping that proposals can go out for public consultation in July/August. Further information can be obtained from the Clerk.
• Concerns were raised about flooding around the road leading to the Drs Surgery. The culvert will be looked at to see if it is blocked or whether it was sheer volume of rain that fell.
• The new road sign on the corner of Queens St and Church St is hidden by overgrown bushes at Church House.
• A report was received that the gate post at the Church was very loose; the Parish Council will obtain quotes to have this repaired.
• Increased speed checks in and around Stradbroke have been promised by the local Police. The Clerk is working with Suffolk County Council to purchase a new VAS sign to replace the broken one at Westhall
