On December 3rd we planted another 100 trees kindly donated by two local landowners. It really does look like a Woodland now, on land belonging to Adrian Lawson, albeit in the infant stage! The Stradbroke Oak stands proudly in the centre with larger trees along the permissive path thanks to the generous grants from The Stradbroke Trust and the Stradbroke Community Centre. These bigger trees were supplied by Sandy Lane Nursery in Wattisfield and our thanks go again to Luke Heydon for all his expert help.
The Wildflower Meadow seeds (also bought from the grants) will be sown on the land belonging to Robert Cooper in the early Spring and we will need to raise more funding to buy around 20 larger trees to plant in the Meadow too.
Thank you again to all the volunteers who came armed with spades, wheelbarrows and sledgehammers helping to make the late Queen’s Green Canopy happen in Stradbroke. Photos from both planting days can be viewed in the Gallery
