Due to COVID19 measures this local farmer near Woodbridge is in dire need of local pickers. To ensure this harvest is not lost, so can any of you help.

Approx start by 10th April to conclude around June 20th. The crop is very weather (temperature) dependent and once it starts growing as the soil warms up, it tends to keep going as long as the temperature is over 10degrees.

There are 2 sites needing harvesting teams, one just to the East of Ipswich and the other about halfway between Woodbridge and Saxmundham.

Pickers need their own transport to get to the fields, and normally the day starts at 6am and is a 12hr picking day, with an hours total break, split between 3 stops. Pickers need to provide their own food for lunch and bring water to keep hydrated, and suncream, assuming the weather is as we hope.

There is 14 in each team with bonus’s over and above the National Living wage. Paid weekly to the team as a whole, which we find makes the teams gel. Plus a bonus for those who stay for the whole of the season, paid at the end of the season in June. It is 7 days a week, as the crop doesn’t stop growing at weekends, but everybody gets days off and rest days. I would add, that it is hard work, and we don’t stop when its raining, but do provide rain jackets and hi viz in the field.

If you are interested and you have any further questions, please contact Bruce below.

Or, if you know of anyone that would be interested, please pass this on. many thanks.
