Cinema – The Duke 12
July 21, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
A film based on the real-life Kempton Button who, in the mid-1960s, stole Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery. Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren shine in this underdog tale of the little man struggling against a mountain of bureaucracy as Button argues his case that public money is being spent on keeping a ‘half-baked portrait by some Spanish drunk’ instead of more pressing things to help mankind. A battle against social injustice begins. A wonderfully uplifting tale reflecting British eccentricity.
Doors open at 7pm. Licensed bar and Ice Creams on sale in the interval. Adults £5.50, 16s and under £3.00
