First Responders are volunteers who are trained to respond to emergency calls in their local area through the 999 system in conjunction with the East of England Ambulance Service
Community First Responders are not a substitute for the Ambulance Service. But, as they are based within the community in which they either live or work, they are able to attend the scene of an emergency call in a very short time; often within the first few minutes and, in the majority of incidents, they will be first on scene. Community First Responders are able to administer vital, life saving first aid treatment before the arrival of an Ambulance crew. Their early intervention further increases the patient’s chance of survival or may just provide the simple reassurance that the ambulance crew are on their way.
We have a small team of First Responders in Stradbroke and are always looking for new members to join as we are currently unable to cover a 24 hour rota. If you are interested or would like to find out more information, please call Maria on 01379 388669 or Julia on 01379 388855.
